Fairview and Friendship Parks are the 2 parks that are within the boundary area of the North by Northwest Neighborhood Target District. One of the goals of our plan is to overhaul these 2 parks. The best park for each of these neighborhoods is the park designed by the residents who live close to and will use these parks. Let’s use this area as a place to do some “imagineering” on what these parks might look like after several hundred thousand dollars of renovations.

An example idea relates to basketball. Parks should probably have a basketball court but what do do about after hours basketball play that is a problem for the residents directly adjacent to these parks. A possible solution would be basketball backboards that automatically rise at a set park closing time and automatically drop down at the set park opening time. This would provide basketball facilities during park hours and hopefully stop basketball play after hours. Just a thought to get some dialogue started.

Parks should benefit residents of all ages, from toddlers to our more seasoned citizens.
